Cookie Policy
Versatum sets no cookies of its own. It keeps a few things in your browser's local and session storage so the app works, and it counts visits by default unless your browser sends a privacy signal or you turn that off. This page lists what is stored, why, how long it lasts, and how to change your choice.
What this page covers
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to send back on every request. Local storage and session storage are different: they stay in your browser, and a page can read them but the browser does not send them to us on its own. Local storage stays until it is cleared. Session storage goes when you close the tab.
This page covers all three. For what we do with personal data, see the Privacy Policy.
Storage we use
Everything in this table is needed for the app to work or to remember something you asked it to remember. None of it is used for advertising, and we run no ad pixels.
| Category | What it holds | How long | Needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Proves you are signed in, so you do not sign in again on every page. Short-lived markers are also kept while a sign-in is finishing, for example when you leave for Google and come back. | Local storage, until you sign out or the session expires. | Yes |
| Your storage choice | Your answer to the storage notice (Got it or Turn off) and the date you gave it. Older versions of the notice left a flag that is removed when you answer again. | Local storage, until you clear site data. | Yes, it remembers your answer |
| Theme, layout and settings | Light or dark theme, trading mode, sound, which side menu sections are open, pinned and recent pages, dashboard layout, the symbol you last looked at, chart and study settings, watchlist grouping, and paper trading settings. | Local storage, until you clear site data. | Yes, once you use the feature |
| Saved work and caches | The last results of research tools, scans and watchlist checks, your research history, price alerts and watches, notifications, options tracking, and the fleet list for the Autonomous Trader. They let a page open with your last result instead of an empty screen. | Local storage, until replaced or you clear site data. | Yes, once you use the feature |
| Notice and one-time flags | Remembers that you dismissed a banner or saw a one-time notice, that a data move already ran, that a page reloaded once after an update, and that a checkout was already counted. | Local storage until you clear site data, or session storage until you close the tab. | Yes |
| Session-only state | Inputs you typed into the options screener and strategy scanner, and a marker used by market notifications. | Session storage, until you close the tab. | Yes, once you use the feature |
| Guest data before sign-in | A watchlist or dashboard you made before signing in, kept so it can be moved to your account. | Local storage, until it is moved to your account or you clear site data. | Yes, once you use the feature |
Measurement and error reports
Measurement is on by default: cookieless analytics, which sets no cookies, counts visits and sign-up steps. A visit is counted as the page loads, before you can read the storage notice.
Error reports with personal details removed go out either way, because finding a crash is strictly necessary. Your user ID is added when you are signed in, unless measurement is off. Our error-monitoring service also records a session for each page, unless measurement is off.
Measurement is off automatically whenever your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, whatever you chose in the notice.
Storage set by other providers
These providers run on their own pages or inside ours. We do not control the storage they set or how long it lasts. Each provider's own policy describes it.
| Where | When it can happen |
|---|---|
| Bot check | On the sign-in pages and on the public data request form, while the check runs. |
| Embedded charts | Inside the app, on pages that show an embedded chart. |
| Google sign-in | If you choose to sign in with Google, on Google's own page. |
| Payment pages | When you open checkout or the billing portal, which are pages run by our payment processor. |
| News images | When a news item shows an image loaded from the site that published it. |
Your choices
You can turn measurement off or back on at any time (Turn off or Turn on). Open the Privacy and storage card in Settings, the Storage notice link in the footer, or the same link on the sign-in pages. Choosing Turn off stops the measurement right away, with no reload, and your answer stays in place until you change it.
Choosing Turn off does not delete anything already stored in your browser. The storage listed above stays until you clear it. To remove it, clear this site's data in your browser settings. Clearing it signs you out and removes saved results, settings and your storage choice, so the notice appears again and measurement is on by default again.
If you are signed in, we also keep a record of the choice and its date with your account. It is deleted when you delete your account.
Your browser can also block storage or send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Blocking storage may stop sign-in from working.
Changes
We will update the date at the top when this page changes. If a change adds something optional, the storage notice asks you again.
